Welcome to the “On the Way” web site designed to deliver travellers of the iconic Overlander’s Way easy to access important information on rest areas, travel distances, en route tourism hot spots and facilities to make your drive through the heart of Queensland’s outback a safe and pleasant one.

The Overlander’s Way is a 1,550 kilometre drive tourism route, spanning between Townsville on Queensland’s east coast, through to Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Encompassing the Flinders (A6) and national Landsborough (A2) highways the route takes in the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, vast rugged cattle plains, dramatic basalt landscapes, spectacular gorges and prolific wildlife on a journey into the Outback rich with discovery, unspoilt natural beauty and friendly local characters.
